I grew up in Grayson County, Texas… near the Oklahoma border. Since leaving Texas, I’ve lived in Indiana -> Chicago -> Palo Alto, CA -> Chicago -> Michigan.
Family status: Married, two daughters: 18 and 15.
Occupation in your non-running life: Biochemist; Microbiologist. University professor.
Have you been to Big Bend before? Yes. 1997 & 2015.
History in ultra-running: I’ve run a few stage races, going back to 2012.
Goals for TPU: To finish without getting injured.
How has your training been going? Not great. I’ve tried to run 4-5 times per week. I recently moved to Michigan after spending the past 14 years in Chicago, and my running fell way off prior to the move. It’s been good to run again.
What do you love to do when you’re not running? I like to hang out with my family.
I’m looking forward to being in Big Bend.
